Indian Automobile Industry is one of the biggest industry in the world and quickly growing globally. In Passenger Cars and Commercial Vehicle Segment, Indian Automobile Industry is the 6th largest country in the world. Its production was more than 3.9 million units in 2011. According to recent industry report, India become the 6th largest passenger vehicle producers in the world.

 

India is one of the 4th largest exporter of passenger cars, behind Japan, South Korea, and Thailand. India produced more than 4 million vehicles, which makes India 2nd fastest growing Automobile Industry in the world.

Audi, VW, and Skoda's manufacturing plants are located in Aurangabad. Mahindra and Mahindra's engine assembly plant at Nashik. General Motors, Tata Motors, Mercedes Benz, Land Rover, Jaguar Cars, Fiat, and Force Motors have assembly plants in the area.

 

The northers part is the National Capital Region (NCR), and contributes around 32% share. Under this part, Gurgaon and Manesar, in Haryana are the country's largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki is reside.

 

An another emerging part is the state of Gujarat, with the manufacturing facility of General Motors in Halol, and planned facility for Tata Nano at their plant in Sanand. Ford, Maruti Suzuki, and Peugeot-Citroen plants are also planned for Gujarat.

 

Kolkata with Hindustan Motors, Noida with Honda, and Bangalore with Toyota are other automotive manufacturing regions around the country.
