Toyota Motors is a Japanese multinational automaker headquartered in Toyota, Aichi, Japan. In 2011, Toyota was the 3rd largest automobile manufacturer with production behind General Motors and Volkswagen Group. Toyota Motors is the 11th largest company in the world by revenue. In July 2012, the company had reported manufacturing its 200-million vehicles. Toyota cars in India getting very popular on Indian Roads.

Toyota Motors was founded by Kiichiro Toyoda in 1937. Toyota had created its first product, the Type A engine, and in 1936, its first passenger car, the Toyota AA.

Toyota’s first vehicles were the A1 passenger car and the G1 in 1935. In the year 2008, Toyota’s sales surpassed General Motors, marking Toyota number one in the world. In 1924, Sakichi Toyoda invented Toyoda Model G Automatic Loom. Looms were built on a small production line.

Honsha Plant is a 14th Story building a technical center, Toyota’s 2nd plant engineering in mass production and formerly named the Koromo plant.

In 1981, Toyota Motor Co. Ltd. announced plans to merge with its sales entity Toyota Motor Sales Co. Ltd.

On June 14, 2013, Toyota Motor Corp announced the appointment of outside board members.

In 1936, Toyota Company ran a public competition to design a new logo. Of 27,000 entries, Japanese katakana letters for “Toyoda” in a circle.

In 1980, Toyota received its first Japanese Quality Control Awards and began participating in a variety of motorsports.

In 1982, Toyota Motor Company and Toyota Motor Sales merged into a single company, Toyota Motor Corporation. After 2 years, In the 1990s, Toyota to producing mostly compact cars and more luxurious vehicles to its lineup including a full-sized pickup, the T100; several lines of SUVs; a sport version of the Camry, known as the Camry Solara; and the Scion brand, a group of several affordable, yet sporty, automobiles targeted specifically to young adults.

In 2002, Toyota entered in a Formula One works for teams and established joint ventures with French motoring companies Citroen and Peugeot.
