KTM Motorcycles are an Australian based motorcycles, bicycle and moped Manufacturer Company founded in 1934 by engineer Hand Trunkenpolz. In 1954, KTM has begun producing motorcycles. KTM mostly knows as its off-road motorcycles in recent years.
In 1937, KTM has started repairing and selling DKW motorcycles.
After the 2nd World War, Engineer Trunkenpolz started producing its own motorcycles in 1953. In 1955, Ernst Kronreif a businessman became a shareholder of the company.
KTM has launched its first moped called Mecky in 1957 and Ponny I 1960 and Ponny II in 1962. KTM is also capable of producing racing sports motorcycles.
After died of Kronreif in 1960 and Trunkenpolz, the company name changed back to Kraftrader Trunkenpolz Mattighofen with his son Erich. At that time, the Company had about 180 employee and €3.5 Millions of turnover.
In 1980, KTM was renamed KTM Motor-Fahrzeugbau KG.
KTM began motorsports with Motocross Racing. In last few years, KTM has gains more success. In 2003, KTM had started sponsoring and supporting Road racing. KTM has launched a new racing competition’s motorcycles name Superbike which has V-twin engine dubbed the LC8 as employed in the 950 Adventure dual-sport motorcycle. The Super Duke bike has a higher output. It’s geared for high RPM pear power as required in road racing.
KTM offers a wide range of different engines for its larger motorcycles.
