Maruti Suzuki is now ready to entering in the new segments in the Indian market. It is expected to be in the compact crossover segment and their entry for this will be the vehicle currently codenamed the YRB. The new Maruti Suzuki YRB is based on the iv-4 concept model and in production form it looks like of the Vitara SUV.
Interior & Exterior
In terms of interior, of the Ciaz has been set as the standard by the company for what the future designs for the Indian lineup will look like. It is expected that the design of the car’s elements will find their way into this compact SUV.
There is expected to be a large amount of split folding seats, storage spaces for first and second rows as well as an parcel shelf for the boot. It is also possible that the 3rd row will get the optional jump seats but like all other manufacturers who have experimented with this setup, it will best suit to children or to secure luggage.
The Maruti Suzuki YRB is expected to look like a smaller version of the Vitara. It will be a sub 4-metre model. It is expected to have scaled down design but will have a similar fascia, side profile as well as rear end. What is expected to change are features like fog lamps, standard headlights in place projectors and bulb and reflector setup for the rear end as compared to the LED units on the bigger SUV?
Engine and gearbox
The Maruti Suzuki YRB is expected to be powered by 1.2-litre K-Series mill and the 1.4-litre K-Series engine in the petrol line-up. On the diesel front, we expect the omnipresent 1.3-litre Multijet diesel in the 90bhp guise will be offered. A 5-speed manual gearbox will be standard while a four-speed AT will be an optional extra for the petrol engines.
Price and competition
The Maruti Suzuki YRB will be priced in the range of Rs 6 lakh to Rs 9 lakh. It will compete with Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster as well as C-segment sedans like the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and the VW Vento.
