It is paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. Tata could also offer a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit, although it may not be available at launch. Tata is expected to offer the Safari with an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a powered tailgate, JBL sound system, a panoramic sunroof, and a 6-way powered driver seat. The Safari will take on the Mahindra XUV500 and MG Hector Plus.

Tata offers the Safari 2021 with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Tata’s UVO connected car technology, an air purifier, ambient lighting, and an 8-inch head-up display. It also gets ventilated front seats, a power-adjustable driver seat, a 7-inch multi-information display, an eight-speaker Bose sound system, and a sunroof. The 2020 Safari 2021 adds smartwatch connectivity, smart-key remote engine start, and a "Hello Tata" wake up command for the voice assist of the UVO Connect features.

The Safari 2021’ safety net consists of up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, emergency stop signal, vehicle stability management (VSM), electronic stability control (ESC), and hill assist control (HAC). It rivals the Tata Creta, Renault Duster, Nissan Kicks and Maruti Suzuki S-Cross. It will also take on the upcoming Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun SUVs.
